Handling Device using air pressure actuator
Doshisha University SQUSE

Doshisha University and Squse have teamed up to develop a robot hand pneumatic actuator. By using a compact pneumatic actuator, all the components that are required for moving the robots muscles can now be stored on the robots hand. The pneumatic actuator makes Squse’s robot hand capable of performing more than 20 different movements ranging from fine motor movements to a plethora of grasp types. Through the use of air pressure, the robot hand’s touch is extremely gentle. Squse’s robot hand can hold an egg or test tube without breaking it. This means that the robot hand could be used in packaging fragile items such as confectionary. Squse and Doshisha University researchers are moving forward with the aim of developing a dexterous robot hand capable of assembling small components for mobile phones and other consumer electronics devices without damaging the components.
