Philips’ new Izzy BM5Bluetooth Speaker does multiroom differently. It uses an extended range Bluetooth signal instead of Wi-Fi. It allows you to group up to 5 speakers to stream music in multiple locations.
Pairing with a streaming source is easy, and equally as easy is pairing one speaker to the next with the “group” button.
The extended range of the Izzy speakers is a claimed 100 meters in open spacing, and although that distance takes a big hit when you add barriers like doors and walls, we were still impressed by the BM5’s long reach.
