Anthony Kulkamp Dias was undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumor, but that didn’t stop him from jamming on his guitar.

The 33-year-old Brazilian man’s surgical team at Our Lady of Conception hospital in Tubarão, Brazil allowed him to play his guitar to help keep him awake during the procedure, allowing doctors to better map his brain activity and reduce risk of damage.

Dias played some Brazilian country songs, The Beatles’ “Yesterday” and a song that he wrote for his newborn son.
