Paediatric Pneumonia. Innovation for diagnosis – LCF

Published on June 16, 2017

The “la Caixa” Foundation works in alliance with UNICEF to combat pneumonia, which kills 940,000 children under five every year and has become the world’s major cause of infant mortality.

Less developed countries are severely limited in the care, diagnosis and treatment they can provide for this illness. In spite of positive developments over the last few years, healthcare is still insufficient and cannot help the most vulnerable children.

The ARIDA programme (Acute Respiratory Infection Diagnosis Aid) aims to develop and implement technological solutions that improve the detection and treatment of pneumonia, providing community health agents in the most vulnerable areas with new devices that ensure a faster, more accurate and reliable diagnosis of pneumonia.
