Ocean Cleaning Seabin Can Run On Wind, Solar, Or Wave Power

Published on November 2, 2017

Trillions of pieces of trash circle our oceans, but one invention may help clean the debris closer to shore.

The Seabin sucks in more than 3 pounds of trash each day, equaling 20,000 plastic bottles per year. Unlike typical trash boats, it can run on solar or wave power. The pump creates a flow of water to suck in floating debris. Then, the water is pumped back into the ocean, leaving the trash trapped in the bin.

The first ever Seabin was installed at a U.K. yacht marina. Now, the Australian inventors set up a factory in France where they hope to make 360 units a month.
