Nutnfancy SHOT Show 2011: Glock 4th Gen Questions04:33

Is the Glock 17 4th jacked or not? I raise that question in this Nutnfancy SHOT 2011 Booth review with their rep Mike McAvoy. Some say it’s great (so does Glock…I think), some say it’s broken. Re-inventing something that was functioning perfectly does carry some baggage. I have said in past vids over a year ago that a major component re-design like the double captive recoil spring on the 9mm Glock versions was not necessary and will re-set the gun’s long-proven reliability record. This version is proving itself now and that will take time. In the hands of agencies, officers, and civilians around the world are amassing that data right. I will get rounds on one or two as time goes on but it will just be single data point. It seems however that the 4th Gen Glock’s are not enjoying a resounding “It’s awesome” round of applause so far. The spring upgrades were intended to cure the .40 S&W versions’ reliability and frame flex with weapon lights and those too are getting re-proven. However in the 4th Gens, some good improvements do come along for the ride: larger mag release, perfect grip texturing, and interchangeable backstraps (really not necessary however for most hands I think; the larger beavertail extension will help the big fellas). The limited edition 4th Gen G17 is intriguing but of course it’s a bummer the OD frame version is no longer being made (preferred). A few other versions like the Glock 36 are also discussed with SadlyMissing and Mike. However, if I’m getting a 9mm, I would opt for the 3rd Gen as you tap into that generations amazing and proven track record. Improving the grip and mag release on the 3rd Gen is easy and affordable (watch For other calibers, the 4th Gen bears consideration and research. Through all this however, I do have an abiding faith that Glock will cure any problems and get all its guns squared away. It has a track record of doing just that. /////////////////////// Music: Licensed to TNP from www.youtube.com/user/InSoMnIaKsTrAnCe (www.square-recordings.com). Specific licensing arranged.
