Today, a beautiful day, August 14th, 2013. It’s the 2013 North Dakota peace officer association K9 police trials. It’s our first time ever hosting this event. It’s a joint competition for dogs from different military bases and state agencies competing in three events for top dog. Behind me is the iron dog rescue course event. This consists of a lot of obstacles, it’s going to be different kinds of gunfire, it’s going to involve rescue of a downed officer, we’re going to drag him out of a combat zone, we’re going to need to carry our dog over an obstacle. At one point there’s going to be a vet test to throw them off their game, where they have to stop for a second and think about some common knowledge K9 questions. Teams are definitely going to get some training out of this; we’re pushing them to their limits and past their limits so they can see their shortfalls, and it’s just a fun event you know, a great time for anyone to come out and watch. Normally as K9 we’re a side show for anything that happens, we come out, we do a few demos – but today K9 is on the front lines, and we actually are the show.
