Nine-year-old rewarded Xbox One X by Microsoft
A nine-year-old, Ohio-based child has rewarded the latest Xbox One X gaming console exclusively by Microsoft. The reason why the nine-year-old Mikah Frye deserved this Christmas gift is that of his selfless act. Frye, who hails from the Ashland County region of Ohio was reported to have been distributing blankets for the homeless population of the area.
According to PC Mag, this caught the attention of the Redmond, technology giant. The firm wasn’t going to let this selfless gesture just slide by. Therefore, they decided to award Frye with the latest Xbox One X gaming console. This was not all. The gift hamper consisted of a Minecraft-themed Xbox One X console, a few extra gamers and additional accessories as well. Frye’s act of charity had reportedly benefited the non-profit organisation, Ashland Church Community Emergency Shelter Services. It is also being reported that Frye’s family was one of the recipients at the Ashland Church Community Emergency Shelter Services at a time when they were facing financial difficulties. Not only did Frye distribute blankets among the homeless but he even included handwritten notes for every individual.
The report by PC Mag went on to quote one of the personalised notes as, “They gave me a blanket, but I had to leave it. That’s why I want you to have your blanket. Today, I live in my own house, and someday you will too. Your friend, Mikah.” Frye’s grandmother, Terry Brant described the nine-year-old’s experience with times of difficulty and how the feeling of homelessness inspired Frye’s interest in helping those in need.
It was due to this reason that Frye decided to purchase and distribute blankets for homeless individuals that he saw on the streets. His grandmother reportedly said that Frye even asked her whether the blankets he was distributing were warm enough for homeless individuals during winters. “He knew what it was like to not have a blanket at night and have to give it back. So the first thing he wanted to do is give a blanket that they could keep,” Mrs Grant added.
