NightFlyyer Resurrects his old U Control Days with a modern electric F4 Jet and Spitfire

Published on July 17, 2017

After starting up those noisy (and messy) Cox Engines to make my previous Cox Antique Ukie plane video, I was inspired and also requested to make an electric version. In my early day this was the only flying we could do and it took lots of room, plus made lots of noise. Cops always came.
Electric is powerful now so I decided to try Quietly again. The F4 jet is first, then I modified the Spitfire.

I made my own bellcrank system and used the existing pushrod for the elevator. I unhooked all the other servos so they would not move, and I was able to set them to hold a slight right roll and right rudder to keep the lines taut.

Since I have brushless motors in these planes, I had to use a brushless speed controller so I could run them and also shut down before any lipo damage.

Starting with 35 foot lines (A 70 foot circle), these are the results.

I have the 60 foot stainless steel cables on order and am anxiously awaiting them. I am sure the Spitfire will fly nicely with them and should be capable of stunts so stay tuned for those flights.
