It is aimed at the users who want an Apple experience, in a smaller tablet form factor. The iPad mini is currently is scarce amounts of stock due to the hype, and this is a good indicator that a product is selling well. Furthermore, the price point of the iPad mini is essential for marketing. The junior tablet comes in at $329 for a 16 GB Wi-Fi model, and consumers believe that the price is a steal for what you are receiving. Having two types of a device is crucial for a thriving company, and this appears to be the future for Apple.
iLounge is reporting that the next generation iPad mini will feature a Retina Display, and retain the same build style currently present on the mini tablet. We saw something similar to this with the original iPad as it later received a Retina Display in the second generation. It will be interesting to see what other specifications Apple includes on the next generation iPad mini, and can other competitors such as Samsung as well as Amazon keep up?
