New WhatsApp feature to alert users about dangerous messages

As per new reports, the messaging giant WhatsApp is now working on a new feature which is known as “Suspicious Link” which will help in detecting the spam and malicious links that are now getting shared at the online platform.

Presently, criminals and anti-social elements are increasingly using WhatsApp feature to share the fake news with the help of the group chats. Now the company is planning to check the misuse of the instant messages app. The Facebook-owned chat platform will be reportedly testing a new feature which will be alerting all the users about the fake news which has been forwarded to the groups. This means that the WhatsApp will automatically check the authenticity of the website links which are being shared through the upcoming Suspicious Link feature.

When this new feature by WhatsApp is rolled out, at that moment you will be receiving the link to a website on the WhatsApp and the app will perform all the background check of the link to the website and they will alert you to find all the fishy things about the link. As per a report published in WaBetalnfo, it said that when the WhatsApp detects the suspicious link, the message will be marked with a red label. This red label shows the user that this message is spam or it is phishing whose link will redirect you to a new fake news website. Many times it is found that these third-party links will redirect the malicious website which will allow you to download malware in the background.

This new feature has been spotted in the WhatsApp 2.18.204 beta version. We can expect that the WhatsApp will roll out this new feature in the coming weeks. The company is now trying hard to limit the dominance of the fake news which is now being circulated on the platform which is now a daily menace.

It other security features that the WhatsApp already gives its users are the user is allowed to block the people who are unknown to you. The app also helps in preventing the users from adding others back into the group which they have left. The recent new feature includes that the Group admins can now decide and can restrict the other member from sending the texts to a particular group. The group admins can demote the existing group admins.
