Neil deGrasse Tyson talks to Emily Graslie, the host of the YouTube channel “The Brain Scoop.” Neil talks with Emily about everything from what it’s like to host a YouTube show at Chicago’s renowned Field Museum to how she disarticulated and fed a roadkill wolf to a colony of flesh-eating beetles.

“Rising Stars” is a one-on-one interview series hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson. The renowned astrophysicist and host of StarTalk Radio talks with the next generation of leaders in innovation and tech.

Graslie started The Brain Scoop while attending the University of Montana and credits her famous roadkill wolf episode as being the reason she is now the chief curiosity correspondent at The Field Museum. Interestingly, Graslie attended the University of Montana to major in art. She and Neil talk about how artists and scientists and naturalists used to work hand-in-hand to document new findings.

Graslie also talks about the importance of museums as examples of time machines and as the only place people can see things for themselves. Therefore, she argues YouTube and technologies won’t replace science education, but, hopefully, only stimulate people to go to a museum in real life.
