Another awesome humanoid robot has been built– this time by NASA. It’s called Valkyrie. He’s a massive 6’2″, 280 pounds of amazing engineering. Trace tell us all about it.

“NASA has created a robot for DARPA’s upcoming Robotics Challenge Trials. The Valkyrie is a 6-foot-2-inch humanoid machine with detachable arms, sonar sensors, mounted cameras, and a glowing Tony Stark-esque circle in the middle of its chest.”

“When we visited the JSC team to meet their DRC robot, we had no idea what to expect. Or rather, we were expecting to see something like Robonaut’s torso on top of a pair of beefy legs.”

What is the DRC?

“The DRC is a competition of robot systems and software teams vying to develop robots capable of assisting humans in responding to natural and man-made disasters.”
