NASA 2012 Hispanic Heritage Month Profile – Pedro Curiel Johnson Space Center

Pedro Curiel is a Systems Engineer for the Robotics Division. He was born in Mexico in the City of Juarez, where he received his first engineering degree. He is currently conducting research and development for a next generation astronaut jetpack that will employ hands free operation. This type of jetpack could be operated hands free so that astronauts can then use their hands to do other activities and perform work on the exterior of spacecraft.
