Multiple Google Nexus Devices For Android Jellybean 5.0?04:33

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that according to sources “familiar with the matter” Google will be launching multiple Nexus branded devices from different manufacturers later this year with the release of Android 5.0 Jellybean.

The rumor didn’t mention what manufacturers would be making the devices, but we expect Samsung (as they’ve made the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus) and HTC (made the Nexus One) to participate. Look for other manufacturers like Motorola (who is now owned by Google) to make a Nexus device as well.

All of this again is a rumor, so don’t take it as being 100% accurate. However, we do feel like if true it would make a lot of sense, considering it would help Android’s fragmentation by giving more manufacturers an early look at Jellybean 5.0, and also would allow Google to have more control over whats on (or more importantly not on) the phones. The phones will supposedly sell directly from Google on Google Play like the Galaxy Nexus currently does.
