At the 2008 Embedded Systems Expo, NEC Electronics demonstrated a micro computer system that utilizes NEC’s 32-bit micro computer and is equipped with the “CAN”, “LIN”, and “FlexRay” in-vehicle network systems.
Vehicles these days are equipped with multiple computer systems for vehicle control called Electronic Control Units or ECUs and the communication network used to exchange information between these ECUs is called the in-vehicle network system. Among the X-by-wire systems being examined for use in next-generation vehicles, the FlexRay vehicle network communications protocol is the front runner.
