A delivery drone from Johns Hopkins University has set a new distance record for transporting medical samples.

The drone recently flew 161 miles across the Arizona desert for more than three hours, while carrying blood sample test tubes.

Johns Hopkins researchers say that drone delivery is the safest and speediest way to transport samples from remote patients to a laboratory. They believe this speed will make diagnoses and patient care more efficient.
