The MAVEN swing test is performed to capture the magnetic signature of the spacecraft. Test engineers swing the vehicle on the x and y-axis and compare the data to a model of the magnetic field of the spacecraft. Verifying the model will make the MAVEN magnetometer instrument more precise when collecting science at Mars. (Sorry no HD on this one)
