SHE HAS YT MAIN RETRACTS WITH ROBART POWDER COATED MAIN WHEELS,
HANGAR 9 TAIL RETRACT,
HANGAR 9 CANOPY AND COCKPIT KIT,
USES A KELEO COLLECTOR RING EXHAUST,
HI-TECH SERVOS AND IGYRO 3E,
LEE HAD SENSIBLY PREVIOUSLY RUN IN THE SAITO ON THE GROUND SO COME THE MAIDEN SHE WAS RUNNING SWEET AS A PEACH WITH A LOVELY TICK OVER AND CLEAN PICK UP !
UNFORTUNATELY THE RETRACTS DECIDED NOT TO PLAY BALL TODAY SO DEANO DID A STALL TEST FIRST (WHICH WAS NON EXISTENT ON FULL FLAP AND UP ELEVATOR UNTIL BELOW WALKING SPEED) THEN BROUGHT HER IN FOR A LOVELY WHEELS AND FLAPS UP LANDING ON THE GRASS !
When we tested the undercarriage on the floor in the video they struggled to go up but that wasn’t a problem because I knew the wind/ pressure would assist them going up !
But there was no problem when the gear came down as you can see in the video, I was happy with the U/C because they came down and locked with no problem !
The problem was the forward speed / wind was too much to let them come down and lock ! Lee had restricted the air flow with inline air restrictors designed to reduce air pressure in the line (he forgot to tell us that or we would have removed them before the flight)so they look scale going up and down slowly in flight but there wasn’t enough pressure in the air tank to allow them to lock down in flight against the on coming air hitting the undercarrige doors !
I guess we all live and learn 😉
