Kissing Daffodil

A whole new angle to saying it with flowers – this one blows kisses.

Mmmmmwwaaah!!

This clever toy was designed by a magician friend called Simon Drake back in the 1980s. He started with an artificial flower, and a clockwork motor, and created this ingenious mechanism.

When you wind it up and switch it on, the motor (which is hidden in the flower pot) controls a thin wire that runs up the stem of the daffodil, and connects with the trumpet of the flower. Every so often, the flower puckers up, and gives a big ‘air kiss’ to anyone who happens to be passing

He also made a version which had an electric motor powered by a battery, and placed a whole row of these kissing daffodils in a shop window in West London. It caused quite a stir among passers by!
