Could a nude portrait be a precursor to the Mona Lisa?
The Mona Lisa has always been shrouded in mystery — and a new detail adds to the portrait’s intrigue. Some experts believe a nude portrait known as the “Monna Vanna,” which bears a striking resemblance to the famous portrait, could be a precursor to that famous painting.
Recent tests on the nude portrait indicate that Leonardo Da Vinci drew at least part of it. Small holes around the figure suggest it was used as a tracing for a canvas painting.
So, could it be the Mona Lisa? Only she knows the answer to this mystery.
