Each year, Dubai puts out a splashy display of new tech. But is it technology of the future, or just good PR?
The event is called the “Gulf Information Technology Exhibition”. This year’s highlights include a real-life version of RoboCop, a flying police bike called “Hoversurf,” and a police motorcycle with eight cameras.
Dubai’s positioning of itself as a hub for global technology has attracted the interest of Elon Musk. The inventor envisions his rockets ferrying passengers from Dubai to London in just 30 minutes. Whether or not it’ll ever happen remains to be seen.
