Iodine Satellite
This iSat video animation illustrates the notional assembly of the iodine satellite (iSat) starting with the in-house development of the primary structure. The iSat spacecraft is the first of its kind. The propulsion system includes a 200 Watt (W) Hall effect thruster operating with iodine propellant launched as an unpressurized solid, full 3-axis attitude control, 2MB/s communications, unprecedented input and output processing, a 60W solar panel, and on board diagnostics. iSat will have the capability of a much larger spacecraft packed into a 12U form factor with the dimensions 8 inches x 8 inches x 12 inches (20 centimeters x 20 centimeters x 30 centimeters).
