We almost mastered the “homemade arrow shooting arrow 1000 Joule” challenge last year, before it got too cold for record hunting (both air and rubber are not working at full performance in cold temps). But the hacked together weapon finally broke when we sent a steel arrow all the way through a riot shield and helmet…
The summer is here again and we picked up the work. A completely new weapon was built, with the same functionality but much, much more solid.
Before the tests with the heavy, thick aluminum and steel tube based arrows begin, we want to find out how fast a normal crossbow bolt flies when we shoot it at 300 bar pressure with 400 ccm of compressed air… and what kind of destruction potential such an arrow has.
