Instagram allows you to download your profile data using app

Facebook-owned Instagram has done an important update to its application that lets users save their own photos. Earlier this data download was absent on both web and app but the latest version of the application allows users to download their own data.

You might think that this is not so new for all, but Instagram was lacking this feature while on Facebook it was added in the year 2010. We can say that Instagram is little slow for this feature as after 8 years and 800 million users it got featured with data download feature.

Now let’s see how this feature will work. The user will find the download option in his privacy setting. Once the user request data, he will be informed via a link in an email within 48 hours. Wirth this download the user will get all his data in an offline format and that can be a photo, video, past searches, direct messages, stories and profile information.

This is not the just which a user will get in his downloaded data of Instagram account, he can also see comments and likes which he has given to other users post.

The feature allows you to create a backup of your all Instagram data and then if you want to leave the platform, you can do so without fearing about your data. The feature is quite helpful to all the users, as it will be convenient to get whole data downloaded in just one click.

  1. Go to your profile
  2. Click on the gear icon
  3. Choose Privacy and Security
  4. Under Data Download you can click “request download”
  5. Enter your email and click next
