Hungarian parliament passed new laws late Monday that widened the army’s power to halt refugees and migrants crossing the country’s border.

The new law will allow the army to use “non-lethal force” against refugees at the border, which includes the use of rubber bullets, pyrotechnical devices, tear gas and net guns.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, speaking in Parliament on Monday, said “millions of migrants are besieging the borders of his Hungary a and Europe,” putting the continent at risk.

On Tuesday, journalists spotted military vehicles headed to the Croatian border, which has become a major crossing points for those walking the Balkan route from Greece into western Europe.
