Stanford University’s OceanOne looks like a person with limbs and hands and a face (!), but unlike a person, it can dive to depths of 2,000 meters below the surface of the ocean. Human controllers can monitor what OceanOne is doing by peering through its camera eyes. They can control how the bot uses its “hands” as well.

Why can’t we make robots that look like other animals? A deep-sea exploring robot that looks like a Golden Retriever would rule.
