Majority of the technology giant these days end up putting a lot of emphasis on a smartphone’s camera specification. As reported by Forbes, it is almost expected for any significant flagship handset to put an immediate appearance at the top of DxOMark’s camera quality charts. Huawei introduced its P20 line-up only recently. The family includes the launch of P20 Pro smartphone, which has reportedly managed to scoured the number one slot in the group.

The handset has allegedly beaten its competition with the broadest margin the recent memory. According to a report published by Forbes, the model has received a score of 109 points. With this figure, the Huawei P20 Pro consists of ten full points clearer of Samsung’s recently-released Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. Furthermore, the former also goes on the beat Google’s 2017 flagship smartphone Pixel 2 with over eleven points. What’s shocking is that Huawei’s P20 Pro has managed to beat the Apple iPhone X smartphone with over twelve points as well.

HUAWEI P20 Pro Camera

The Huawei P20 Pro camera has a distinct advantage over the rest of the smartphones especially when it comes to photography. The main reason behind this is that it features a triple rear camera setup. The smartphone goes on to pack a large 1/1.78-in 40-megapixel primary sensor, which is further paired with a bright f/1.8 lens. The technology giant also goes on to supplement the smartphone with a slightly smaller ½.7 in the 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. The sensor further comes equipped with f/1.6 lens along with a ¼.4-inch 8-megapixel sensor.

The camera system is also provided with a f/2.4 telephoto lens. Huawei’s approach to photography has ended up combining two of the most popular dual-camera configurations into one triple-headed beast. The smartphone is thus, able to reap the benefits of both approaches simultaneously. The smartphone’s monochrome sensor ends up adding depth perception and boost an overall light sensitivity. At the same time, the telephoto lens ends up adding opportunities for optical zoom effects. “Previous results have shown us that DxOMark scores are influenced heavily by the kinds of tricks only multi-camera setups can perform well, such as optical zoom and portrait effects,” a report by Forbes reads. “It’s no surprise then that the Huawei P20 Pro, with its trio of rear cameras, scores particularly well in tests which make the most use of multiple lenses,” the report further adds.

Camera Scores

The Huawei P20 Pro photo score is ten points ahead of Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus smartphone, as earlier reported. One of the main reasons why the device features a significant lead is because of its zoom and bokeh essential effect. Moreover, any triple camera system that is functional should be able to work better than a dual camera system. This statement is especially true when it comes to zoom and bokeh shots. The two features have ended up being P20 Pro’s biggest strengths. They have managed to outperform the Galaxy S9 Plus smartphone by over 12 percent in the zoom test. Furthermore, they have managed to achieve over 40 percent in the bokeh test.

When it comes to artifacts test, the Huawei P20 Pro has managed to outperform the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus by zero to ten percent of the difference. The artifacts feature seems like one of the weakest points in the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus smartphone. However, it does manage to gain a 15 percent lead regardless of what the information might portray. Huawei is quickly becoming among the most-loved brands in the smartphone industry, and the company can’t seem to stop at giving us reasons for loving them.
