Lisa Gade reviews the stunning new ceramic white edition of the HP Spectre 13, now with Intel 8th generation quad core CPUs and a touch screen. The Spectre is a conventional laptop rather than a convertible like the Spectre x360 we’ve also reviewed. It has a unique design that would feel at home in the Museum of Modern Art, but performance is as good as any competing 13” laptop like the Dell XPS 13, so it’s not just a pretty face. It has a metal casing and is quite rigid.

The laptop is available with Intel Core i5-8250U and Core i7-8550U quad core 15 watt CPUs with Intel UHD 620 graphics, fast PCIe NVMe SSDs and your choice of a full HD or 4K gloss touch screen. It has a Windows Hello camera, backlit keyboard, Intel 8265AC WiFi + Bluetooth, a good webcam above the display and B&O audio. It’s also available in dark ash sliver with gold accents. Pricing starts around $1,100.
