In this video, I show you how to disable auto rotate (or screen tilt) on the iPhone or iPad. While in most situations having auto rotate turned on is desirable, in situations like when you’re trying to read something while laying in bed disabling auto rotate is almost a requirement.
The way you do this is by double tapping the home button on the iPhone. This brings up the list of recent apps. Swipe to the left and you’ll see music toggles and to the left of it there is an arrow that goes in a circle. Press that to lock portrait orientation. If you ever want to re-enable auto rotation, just do the same thing but turn it off.
