*Details. Being able to play amateur guitar at my older age with the You Rock Guitar has been a blessing during these long winters. But I played so much, I unknowingly wore the string and fretboard surface smoothness off.
Maybe coming from pushing hard on 12 strings, to the feather touch of the YR guitar strings, found me unnecessarily pushing too hard till I got used to it.

The YR Guitar strings feel like real nylon strings, but only need to be lightly touched instead of having to push down hard to make chords.
It great for us with older, stiffer fingers. Maybe certain skin oil in my fingers eventually wore off the smoothness too, I dunno. Maybe something I cleaned it with, I dunno. Either way,
not as smooth as new though, it never affected the playing as it is still easier to play than pushing on real strings and so I didn’t notice.
But after upgrading my older You Rock guitar to Gen II and adding a new radius neck, I noticed a big difference in smoothness.
I love the sliding, no buzzing, smooth playing for sure. It is effortless to play. I’ve even seen some famous rock stars play it and they can really make it wail.
So with my 2 old necks, I decided to experiment. Maybe the You Rock Company may not approve, especially on a new neck, but I did it to both of my 4 old necks which are now out of warranty anyway, so I had nothing to lose.
It worked and is still working great with no damage whatsoever to my necks.
New necks cost $119, and of course are warranted. I don’t know how long this light coat will last, maybe only for a 1 night gig, but that is long enough and easy enough to do again.
I used Rustoleum Acrylic based 2X Satin. Clear would work just as well. I would not use anything Lacquer based.
The Your Rock Radius Strings are triggered by induction from touch, so the coating will not affect the play.
In my case it made it all smooth again. I will make update this when I find out how long the one treatment will last.
Of course my SingTrix Voice Effects machine was added into the video when I tested the neck. The SingTrix is the most fun machine to play and sing along with, so I wound up playing this song. It’s an old standard and hopefully you recognize it.
People who visit see play with them for 10 minutes and wind up staying hours as they love the Guitar and SingTrix so much.
Being an amateur singer and guitarist, this equipment is fun to use and made a perfect test for my experiment.
I can just imagine what a good singer and guitarist could do with this equipment. Personally, I love love them both and satisfied with my Fix.
