Marubun exhibited the XVA-160α (alpha) system at the 26th Electrotest Japan exhibition. Developed by the industrial X-ray CT machine system manufacturer Uni-Hite Systems, the XVA-160α is a high resolution 3D X-ray CT system for industrial use.
The most unique feature of this system is the 3D Oblique CT Noix function developed by Uni-Hite Systems. This new high-end CT technology makes it possible to obtain tomographic images of samples with large aspect ratios, which is something that can’t be done with conventional CT machines.
X-rays are transmitted from the oblique direction, and images of the transmitted X-rays are collected from every angle and computed with a unique algorithm while rotating the stage 360 degrees with high precision. As a result, tomographic images that can be used as analytical data can be easily obtained even for low profile electronic printed circuit boards.
The XVA-160α system is also equipped with patented technology for the sample stage known as U-centric. With the U-centric function, the sample can be moved around a selected view point that is used as the reference point when zooming in, zooming out, tilting, or rotating, and as a result, the area to be inspected is not overlooked. This function also provides enhanced convenience and enables images of the targeted area that can not be achieved with conventional systems that merely rotate and tilt a manipulator, camera, or X-ray generator.
Marubun, which has been selling X-ray CT machines from Uni-Hite Systems since 1998, released the latest XVA-160α in June 2008 as the top-end model of that series. Marubun plans to sell 20 systems per year, considering sales both in Japan and overseas.
