This toy came out in 1986, to coincide with the appearance of Halley’s Comet. The design is quite simple – a rectangle of cardboard, with a battery compartment and on/off switch at the back, and the ‘comet’ on the front. With a small light bulb to show the actual comet, and then a small bundle of optical fibres representing the tail, it looks quite realistic when the lights are low.
