ANOTHER AMAZING SOLO DISPLAY FROM STEVE HOLLAND WITH HIS GIANT DA 150cc POWERED AEROKOT BIPLANE AT THE SOUTHERN HEADCORN RC MODEL AIRCRAFT SHOW IN KENT,
STEVE SENT THIS INFO OVER –
Aerokot….4m span, 30kg weight. All balsa and ply with Pro-film covering (15m+) and a home made U/C from bits left around the workshop welded together. It was designed on Autocad and then printed onto paper and then the paper stuck to the wood. The whole process is much simpler now as I have my own laser cutter. The radio is Futaba split down the middle with 20kg servos x 6 on the main controls and the rudder servo is from a certain Reliant Robin! The nose comes of with all the plumbing and pipes inside it and each wing is joined in the centre. The tail surfaces also come off to help pack it in the van alongside the Lancaster and five other models.

This is a model of a unique Icelandic homebuilt biplane designed and flown by Hunn Sneadel, former Icelandic aerobatic champion. It was based on the Jungmeister but is slightly smaller. The Idelandic word “kot” means “coat” and it’s called an Aerokot because Hunn says the plane fits him like a coat.
Steve designed the model from the original plan that was given to him by Hunn.
The wheels are from a downhill skateboard. It’s covered in yellow Profilm – about 25 metres of it.
