We test out my brother’s new .460 magnum with hot hand-loaded 300 grain loads. Smith & Wesson says that the .460 S&W is the HIGHEST velocity revolver cartridge in the world, firing bullets at up to 2409 ft/s using a 5 inch barrel. The velocity is even higher with this 12″ barrel. With Buffalo Bore’s loadings, the .460 S&W can achieve 2,826 ft lbf of energy by driving a 300 grain .452 caliber bullet at 2,060 ft/s.
My brother chose this gun over the .500 S&W mag. because there are many more choices for bullets, and the fact this can also shoot .45 Colt and .454 Casull.
