GAME Video Games BAFTAs 2012: Celebrity tech quiz. T3 hits the red carpet and the aftershow at the GAME Video Games BAFTAs 2012 to test The Saturdays, Alex Zane and more’s tech and game smarts.

The BAFTAs Video Games Awards 2012 has been and gone and the winners have been announced with Portal 2 taking the spot as best game while the public voted for Battlefield 3 as the winner of the GAME Award.

Other winners included Batman: Arkham City for Action game while Peggle HD received the Mobile and Handheld award, a testament to the fact that this category is now considered as important as traditional gaming formats.

All eyes however were on Portal 2 which picked up the best game award. Joshua Weir who went to pick up the award revealed that in fact the team were slightly in awe of the whole experience.

“It’s been amazing, I think we’ve all had around 3 hours sleep, add to that the fact we really didn’t think we would win two awards so in all this has just been a fantastic night.”

Receiving the BAFTA Special Award was Markus Persson the Swedish developer behind the phenomenally successful Minecraft game.

Speaking to the BAFTAs the game developer is noticeably humble about his creation which is earning him in excess of £160,000 a day.

“I don’t really think of myself as an innovator, most of the things I’ve decided to do were things I saw other people do.”

“I’ve maybe just popularised some stuff and perfected the combination of certain elements, like letting people play a game before it’s finished.”
