Melted gallium spinning at a variable RPM, concentrating sunlight to form a parabolic mirror that can burn a hole in the leaf.
I am working on a larger scale version of this experiment and testing unlikely optical applications. Liquid mercury telescopes have been successfully used for direct overhead imaging (zenith position).
