This idea was originally developed in Australia in the 1970s, although we don’t know the name of the artist. Everyday objects like drinking glasses, bottles, crockery and china are connected and held together by a stream of liquid. It could be milk, beer, wine, whatever. But the liquid is made of resin, and actually supports the bottle or the carton, which floats magically in mid air.

They became quite common at one stage, but when they first came out they were a real novelty, and utterly unexpected as well as great fun!

The coffee and milk design was made in Japan, and bought there in 1986.

The burger is one of the earliest models, bought in London’s Carnaby Street in 1977, and possibly made by the original artist, who has dated the model but not signed it.
