This toy dates from around 1996, although Tim is not quite sure where it came from. There is no box, so it may well have been a friend who gave it to him. This type of flying mechanism is quite well known; you pull a sting or sometimes a strip of plastic, and this translates to a small vertical plastic gear. The flyer, a dragonfly in this case, docks with the gear, but when it spins fast enough, it lifts off.
