This is the second time i used uncooked rice to fix the same exact cell phone (Samsung Galaxy S3).

The first time i dropped it in the toilet. This was about a year ago. The rice trick worked!

This second time it got wet in the ocean. After i got out of the ocean i noticed my phone was attacking up. It would power on but mostly only showed a small part of the screen while flickering the color pink.

After i noticed that it started acting funny i pulled the battery, sim card, and the memory card. I left it like that until i got home (about 8 hours). Before i put in a sandwich bag with rice, i checked to see how the phone was doing. The same thing was happening but this time it would just completely shut off after a few minutes. I was lucky i didnt short circuit anything at this time.

After putting in the phone and battery separately for 24 hours I took it out to test it. It was about 50% functional. Half of the screen showed up this time but it was still flickering pink. So i took the vacuum and tried flush out any remaining salt or water through the audio port and the charging port. I did this back and forth for about 10 minutes or so. Also, i was tapping my phone while moving it in different directions thinking maybe i can move some excess salt around to be able to be sucked in by the vacuum.

After this vacuum endeavor i put back the phone and battery back into the uncooked rice. Fast forward another 24hrs and now my phone is 100% functional. The only thing is that the brightness of my phone is a tad dimmer than before, but other then that everything works perfectly…sound, video, camera, charging, etc.
