Facebook adds ‘Snooze’ button to News Feed

Published on December 16, 2017

Facebook has updated its social media platform with a new ‘Snooze’ button option. The main objective of this option is to give users added control over what they would like to see on their News Feed. For example, if you’re annoyed of viewing posts from a particular page then you can choose to mute it from appearing on your News Feed for a maximum of thirty days. For those of you, who are interested: The ‘Snooze’ button is located in the drop-down menu of a post.

According to Tech Crunch, the latest feature is meant to give Facebook users additional control over their profiles. This eliminates the need for a user to unfollow or unfriend a page or another person. As Tech Crunch further goes on to note in its post, the option is useful for individuals going through a break-up. Facebook users who want to stay connected but also don’t want to face constant reminders of what their exes are up to, can just choose to mute the ex’s profile altogether.

This is not the first time that Facebook has added such an option. Back in 2015, the social media giant debuted a list of tools that help users see less of the posts that they dislike. However, this wasn’t made known to all. The existence of such a feature wasn’t widely publicized.

As a result, not many knew that such a feature even existed. The ‘Snooze’ option, on the other hand, will be made available to users all over the world. The firm doesn’t plan on staying quiet about the launch of this feature. Users all over the world will be notified of this addition. After updating your Facebook app to the latest version, smartphone users will also be able to view this option on their respective devices.
