Women have been kicking ass for years — and now we have proof that it’s been going on since at least the 8th century.
Researchers recently re-examined a well-known grave from the Viking age in the Swedish town of Birka. The DNA tests from the grave revealed that the warrior was actually female.
Viking warriors were typically buried with their weapons and war horses. This female warrior was also buried with a gaming set, indicating that she worked on battle tactics and strategy, and was likely an officer.
