The NEC Group held the “C&C User Forum & iEXPO 2008” for three days from November 11th at the Tokyo International Forum (Yurakucho). The theme of the forum was “Creating a human-centric, earth-friendly information society.”
NEC introduced its Digital Signage Solution technology that is used to create advertising delivery and display systems that control the delivery of advertising contents displayed on electronic displays so that the contents are tailored to those viewing the display. The system visually displays advertisement information in a timely manner via a network to people gathered at specific times in specific locations such as building complexes or public facilities.
The main feature of the Digital Signage Solution is the use of NEC’s facial recognition sensing technology and advertising control technology to effectively measure what aspect of the advertisements shown on the display that the viewers are interested in. Based on this information, the system is able to establish and manage complex, rigid advertisement delivery conditions for each display.
Companies are focusing on this technology as a new advertisement media because it can be used to reliably send messages to people in the area. NEC has already introduced the technology in the broadcasting industry and plans to begin sales of this device in the spring of 2009.
