What’s up Nerdgasm fans, in today’s video I give an in-depth review of Cooler Master’s new CM Storm MECH mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches. This keyboard offers some great feautres like LED back light keys with multiple modes and light intensity levels and it offers full support for macros both internal to the keyboard and via software to give you complete control over your computer. The keyboard is huge and is very heavy so I would not recommend this keyboard for small spaces but if you have the desktop real estate for something big then this is a great keyboard. It feels and reminds me a lot of the old IBM Model M keyboards.
The build in sound card does not have a lot of power to push the db so with a nice pair of headphones I was unable to hit volume levels I was happy with and experienced some distortion at max volume but I believe the sound card would be great for simple team speak operations, etc which I believe is what they are really targeted to. The whole keyboard connects via a single USB 3.0 cable and that provides power for the LED’s as well as the sound card.
My single favorite feature of the keyboard is the removable aluminum top that you can easily clean and customize (paint, etc) which gives the keyboard a neat look and makes it personalized to you. Also the keyboard is very comfortable to type on and it does not move around at all, it’s like an anchor on your desk so if you’re going crazy gaming like hell you don’t run the risk of coming off key.
These keyboard also comes with Red and Blue switches depending on your personal preference but I find the brown switches to be a great combination of quiet while still getting a distinct ‘CLICK’.
