Can you cook POPCORN on the liquid metal, MERCURY?04:33

Today we will see if it is theoretically possible to pop corn on molten mercury. Of course, that’s a joke because, mercury is molten (liquid) above MINUS 40c (or F). Mercury is toxic so you couldn’t eat the popcorn.

Mercury is a fairly decent conductor of both heat and electricity. Since it is so dense (heavy for its volume) most things float on it like a cork on water.

Mercury is hazardous. We use special respirators and containment in our experiments. It may look like the mercury is splashing around, but it is always contained. Everything that contacts the Hg must be carefully handled. Do not replicate this for your own safety.
