UPDATE 5-16-14
The game has improved a lot since I did this video however I still think Multiplayer is horrible and hope they fix it in the next game.
I normally don’t do negative reviews since I love to see the positive side in everything but unfortunately we have an exception to that rule because I’m just too annoyed and pissed off to stay quiet. I had huge expectations for Ghosts but honestly who didn’t after watching the next gen console demos on TV and around the web? The graphics were stunning, the game play seemed great, the maps even seemed pretty decent from the footage that was shown.
Unfortunately the slight of hand kicked in on launch day and what we got for PC was a replica of the XBOX 360 version of the game with dated graphics, same old sounds, shittier maps (at-least the few I played on) and textures that made you feel like you have cataracts in both your eyes while playing!
And this isn’t the worst part ladies and gentilement. The worst part is that they actually removed critical functionality from the game that has existed in the last several COD games like FOV adjustment and triple monitor support (nVidia Suround & ATI XFire). So what I’m left with is really just an XBOX 360 clone ported to PC and it doesn’t even remotely use the potential on my system!
During this video I was playing with the graphics settings on “High” which was already stepped up from the default setting and I still think the game look like crap, the lighting is grap, the water is crap and all the cars in the parking garages look like they were lifted from STUNTS by Broderbund (
To wrap things up if Infinity Ward was to add back the FOV adjustment and add back the multiple monitor wide screen resolution support you would be more or less left with Black Ops II with a female character and a different campaign mode. Now if you’re just looking for a good campaign mode I can’t speak to that but every other COD I’ve played didn’t’ disappoint with the story but I simply don’t want to play campaign mode now since it just looks so freaking terrible.
I can’t believe that Infinity Ward allowed Electronics to gain so much ground on them. BF4 doesn’t just feel like a slightly different FPS it feels like it’s 5 generations ahead of COD right now for graphics, controls, vehicles, you name it! But it’s hard to play BF4 right now because it is so buggy since it also just launched but at least it’s just problems with bugs and not a problem with the whole game as a whole being a BF3 clone.
And to think I had so much faith in this game being a great one that I put down $130 USD on the Digitally Hardened Edition on Steam and now I’m regretting it horribly. But I guess if there is a bright side to be had here it would be that you could dust off your old 286/12mhz gaming beast from the 80’s and get 60 fps in this game with your Cirrus Logic ISA graphics board and 4mb of ram 😛
