Are you ready for transatlantic flight in under three hours?

Boom, a startup founded by a group of aviation and technology professionals from places like SpaceX and Amazon, says five airlines have taken 76 options for its newly unveiled supersonic passenger jet. However, they’ll have to wait as the $200 million plane is still in development, with earliest deliveries scheduled for 2023.

The Boom jet will reach almost 1500 mph, which is two and a half times faster than current subsonic airliners. The design features delta wings and engines without afterburners to save fuel.

The company just showed off a one-third scale prototype at the Paris Air Show, the world’s largest showcase for the aviation industry. The first test flight for “Baby Boom” is scheduled for late 2018.

If successful, the plane would be 10 percent faster than the supersonic Concorde, which hasn’t performed a commercial flight since 2003.
