We make a bolo round using 55 cal. lead disks, and a cable off a retractable keychain. The cable was about 8 inches long. I was able to barely fit this all into a 12ga shotgun shell. The shotcup is a very small space so it can be challenging or impossible to fit some of the objects viewers suggest.
One thing we have learned is that things that go really fast, break apart really easily. Objects and materials that SEEM very strong are not so strong at moment of impact. Even very strong cable gets yanked apart as you can see in this video.
