I took a trip to our local rifle range and had the opportunity to film some muzzleloaders. Instead of using a ready-to-use cartridge, these rifles are loaded at the muzzle one component at a time. It’s a more tedious way to shoot but that was the way firearms were loaded for a couple hundred years. We see both a percussion-cap type rifle and a flintlock rifle. When discussing the delay I saw with the flintlock rifle, the owner decided to let me shoot the gun to see if I felt any delay. I didn’t.
