War in Syria 2017 – Syrian Rebels from the Army of Islam (Jaysh al-Islam) and the al-Rahman Corps ( The al-Rahman Legion ) in Heavy Clashes In Some Parts Of Eastern Ghouta.
Syrian Army continues offensive in the Rif Dimashq Governorate that was launched in early November 2016, as part of the Syrian War. Its aim was to take control of the rebel-held part of western Ghouta. The main rebel stronghold in the region was the town of Khan al-Shih.

The al-Rahman Legion, also called the al-Rahman Corps, is an alliance of Islamist Free Syrian Army groups operating mostly in Eastern Ghouta, in the outskirts of Damascus, but also in eastern Qalamoun. It is the main rebel group in Jobar and have received BGM-71 TOW missiles. The group’s leader is Abd al-Nasr Shmeir.
Jaysh al-Islam ( meaning Army of Islam), formerly known as Liwa al-Islam (Brigade of Islam), is a coalition of Islamist units involved in the Syrian War. Its primary base of operations has been the Damascus area, particularly the city of Douma and region of Eastern Ghouta. Jaysh al-Islam is the largest rebel faction in the area, as was Liwa al-Islam. The group was a part of the Islamic Front. The organization has rejected membership of the Free Syrian Army. The group along with Ahrar ash-Sham are the main rebel groups supported by Saudi Arabia. The group aims to create an Islamic state under Sharia law.
